Random Crap IV

I'll be going to Penang this weekend for another of my dad's old pals' son's wedding. But before this, I had quite an interesting week.

Last Tuesday I went out for a walk. Okay so maybe I did not set out to for a walk to start with. I had two motives; one involved a loaf of bread, another a mountain goat. I only achieved one.

I went through the same route last Friday. That walk, I had my objectives set out pretty clearly hehehehehe. Though it was not achieved due to the absence of said mountain goat. I say. I'm pretty determined. Or just creepy.

Anyway, I took pictures that time, of an ugly abandoned lot along the hip bars and pubs street of Bukit Bintang (which, by the way, is not bukit for no reason :x).

As you can see, it sticks out very oddly among those pretty shiny bars and pubs. I was also wondering if people lived there. So I snapped photos and locations where the mountain goat was spotted and moved on. And then, when I went through the same root last Tuesday, I was surprised to hear all sorts of commotion in the area. I thought someone was setting up some sort of carwash or something down there, with all that equipment. But perhaps not a carwash, but a mechanic shop maybe? I passed by and went downhill towards the convinience shop and that's when I heard "OK, ACTION!"

They were filming!!!

They were filming at that creepy old flat's basement! I could hear them clearly from the convenience shop, and no lines were exchanged. I caught a glimpse of it. They were shooting a guy running - the director called "CUT!" and he just stopped in his tracks.

Man. That must be some low-budget production.

It's not a new sight to see people filming in the area, of course. But I can't help but be a little sakai about it each time I stumble upon it can I?

It rained a storm yesterday evening as I was finishing class. Not only did we brave the elements going down the steps, but the lobby was shut down and we were seemingly trapped in the rain riddled hallway. But then we were instructed to come into the coordinators' office because the lobby is out of bounds for the moment. A ceiling went down it seemed, so we stayed in the office, with the rest of the students.

aEven the two Hotlink girls were there.

When we were finally allowed to enter the lobby, this is what we saw. I wonder if it's fixed today.

I stopped by Khaye's before heading off to Pudu to pick up Homie 2. Had tea with them while I waited out the rain since it would have been too dangerous to drive. The trees after all, were on the roads. An unfortunate Myvi even ran over one, and got stuck. There were branches sticking out from udnerneath it. Hilarious.

It wouldn't have been hialrious if I took a photo, so I didn't. It's not safe to snap and drive, you know.

I picked up Homie 2 since it's been so long since we hung out, and she just arrived from Johor. We went home to pray and freshen up, then to Pavi for dinner. Hmmm, that Pepper Lunch steak was nice. I could get used to this :D. After that I bought donuts and sent her off to where Homie 3 was staying. Her host is a friend of ours and her boyfriend took us to the nearby mamak stall where we hung out again, talking about smokes, pets, and fish. Those two are really nice people. They might appear to be a little too social for me, but they are nice people. And to me, nice people are nice people, regardless of how they live their life. And besides, it's not like I was planning to be ebst friends with them or anything.

It was half past midnight when Ii finally made my way home. I got lost as I was nearing Times Square. It was dark after all. I almost panicked, but I just followed the road signs that says Pusat Bandaraya and I was fine. But surprisingly, I also found a few unexpected places. See? Getting lost is good.

I think my parents are coming today. How boring. :P

Random Crap III

Hello. I mailed those three packages today. I used registered mail for all three and the total bill was quite...awesome. But it's the perfect balance. It may take up to over two weeks for the packages to arrive at their assigned destinations, but in the case they didn't, it would have an address to return to. Registered mail is like that.

Happy birthday to all you people!

Today I put on contacts after a while. I think the last time I put on contacts was that time in Singapore? Anyway, it was months ago. I still dont like it. But glasses...sighs. I am going to do laser eye surgery the moment I can afford it.

Good news for me, Kurohime is due to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday). It's been delayed for two days now. I feel like screaming at someone and make him ride the bus instead. Puke and bangla in tow!

For now all I have is the keys. Keys, but no car. Life is so irony.

Yesterday my dad remarked how different I walked when I wore heels (it was really only an inch and a half high) compared to wearing sneakers. Really. I was tempted to make him use heels instead. You are forced to walk all lady-like in heels. He even 'immitated' my 'rough' voice as if I was some gangster or giant out to devour innocent little children (which may not be halfway from the truth). I groaned and rolled my eyes at him making it very obvious how ancient he was being. What he desribed was a phase.

Everyone goes through phases. Some just don't want to admit it. There was a childish phase, the tomboy phase, the tease-the-boy-you-like phase, the I'm-cooler-than-you phase, the I'm-so-much-more-mature-than-you phase and there are several more as you grow into your twenties. For me I'm going into a phase where I'm trying to act my age. I want to be taken seriously. Because now, when old men wink at you or make passes at you, it's rather startlingly acceptable compared to when you were a teenager because now you're considered young women not girls. And I believe it is important to realize that. Not only will you be able to protect yourself better, it also gives you certain rights that you should be aware of.

Don't get me wrong. I don't mean to say you should shed every bit of childish personality you have (God knows I still poke people and things at odd places every now and then). I just mean that you should act your age. Grow up. Be mature. Accept that people change. You're no longer required to act like you were in high school. Shed that high school mentality, that outlook, that image. Peer acceptance can go get stuffed. It's stupid to think about what people think about you. They don't decide your future after college. You do.

And here I may sound like I'm contradicting myself, but go do whatever you want. If you wanna change how you dress, go ahead. If you wanna change your look drastically, go ahead. If you wanna hang out with different people, go ahead. If you wanna study something 'uncool' or listen to 'boring' music then by all means, go ahead! The world is yours for the taking. You're an adult. You have an immense measure of freedom now, but also an immense measure of responsibility. Do whatever you want within your own boundaries. Life is too short to be doing things according to what other people think is good.

I told my dad that I am currently trying to shed my 'student' look though it's rather impossible now since I am always totting a bag around and wearing sneakers. I'm not trying to be all lady-like too. I'm not a graceful person, but I do like the occasional heels and dressing up is certainly fun. What I'm trying to achieve is that I don't want to look like someone who holds on to the past and my childhood and looks as if I refuse to grow up. You're only 17 once. You're only eighteen once, and you're only 21 once. I find it scary how people go study as far as the other side of the world, only to come back looking exactly the same as when they left. They pride themselves as being "True to their old self" but I only see it as being stuck in time. We have moved on. The world have moved on. It's time you realize that.

Go and get a life.

New Project!

Don't you just love new projects? It's a personal project of course! Surprisingly, it was something I thought at the spur of the moment and forgotten (as happens with lots of my ideas) but SURPRISINGLY! And I do mean SURPRISINGLY and I do not mean it in any negative way possible, the Sponge remembered! SPONGE! REMEMBERING THINGS!

OHMYGOD

Even I have forgotten about it. And what timing! I'm in the midst of looking for other books to write! I just found myself a new project! Wheee! I can't tell you or you'll steal my idea. But I don't think most people would bother with so much effort. Anyway! New project! (If you ask nicely, I'll tell you :D).

Watshiwa-san, my path to Norway looks bright!

p/s btw, I replied to your comments.

Birthdays Galore

Hello everyone, and happy birthday to everyone out there celebrating, because for me, this is birthday season. Lookie here. I have three packages to send, and they are all birthday presents.

This box is not yet wrapped. It's a testament to my new Aztech modem.
Totchi would love to rearrange the content of this box. I'm sure of it! I bet her fingers are twitching right now.Btw, Watashiwa-san, that's yours. This is the second time I'm supplying you with tea isn't it? I could get rich exporting tea to Norway. And of course, there's that thing peeking from under all those tea bags, hehehehehehe. ...You should have seen the force with which I grabbed it from the shelf. There was a girl standing directly in front of it, and I just reached forward and grabbed it. I might as well just push her aside, really. Hahaha. Fun, fun.

Kurohime is imminent! No more rickety cockroachy busses for me! Wheeee!

Procrastinating, Elimination

According to Tim Ferris, the author of 'The 4-hour Work Week', the biggest myth about time management is ...time management itself! The key word is ELIMINATION, not manage more time. It simply means that you eliminate all the unnecessary things or activities and do the important things first. For someone who has too much free time like me, this is very useful. :/

Anyway, I'm writing a book! Then I'm gonna sell it and channel the money into my holiday funds! This is just the first step - I'm going to be writing more books in the future :D.

Why I'm so happy about this is because, just a few weeks ago I was so desperate to find myself a vocation. I don't care what kind of business I start - as long as I can set it up quickly and cheaply and start gaining experience from it. It doesn't matter if I ended up a failure! I would rather just start up and fail than not do anything! I looked through the craft section at the bookstore since they are so easy to do, and I read that the market for accessories sold online is expected to expand in the future, so why not? I even wished that I could draw half as good as Nadja because she made a killing selling her drawings at a convention in Oslo. Maybe I could do something like that too you know?

Sighs.

And then I realized...I'm good at writing. So why not write something? People make a killing selling self-help books online, even as complete amateurs. So why not me? And this is where my idea started from. The book was really just a joke. Some idea I texted off to Totchi when I was bored on a bus ride home from school. So far I am at a grand total of THREE pages into the book! Not bad, not bad :D. Though I have all the chapters outline. Great stuff, great stuff.

And my car is on the way. I shall call it Kurohime. Since it is black, and high-maintenance like a princess. Oh how shall I abuse it? XD

Well, Anyway

Here are some pictures from my Ipoh trip. We went to two waterfalls. This is the first one. We didn't, couldn't swim here for more than because the current was too strong after a light rain in the morning. But we sat on the rocks and ate snacks. No point driving all the way over and left without doing anything, right?

This was taken at the rooftop of a shopping complex in Ipoh. Was it Ipoh Parade? Not sure. Anyway, there arent many tall buildings around and you get an awesome view of the limestone hills that littered the city.

We just got back from a long drive from the second waterfall. We soaked and played in the water and such, and was freaking tired. We didn't change on site, just pants and underwear, but we had to do it in a makeshift changing room held up by two people and a car. We changed the rest at a petrol station a distant away because the toilets at the waterfall charges you 50 cent per entry and you still had to queue. And may I add it was a delipidating kampong toilet with hardly any plumbing!

These days I'm busy with (or the thoughts thereof) all kinds of things. Assignments, homework, my CGPA, losing weight, cleaning the house, laundry, cleaning my shoes and catching up on my reading.

And that is a lot of reading.

Or should I say my reading caught up on me? Hehehe. Surely you notice the singular author name. I am a sucker for her books. Especially when MPH and Times recently had a 3 for 2 offer on them. three books for the price of two! A sucker is hopeless against such assaults.

I don't know if it's because of those books (the characters are English, so they are always having afternoon tea) or I just found a love for tea, but I found myself drinking at least a pot of tea once a day. I can't go on without it. It's scary. Right now I'm into Dilmah tea, the only good thing to come out of Sri Lanka :P. I still can't decide which one I like better - Earl Grey or English Breakfast, so I alternate. Dilmah tea are not a combination blend. They all come from one place. Unlike other brands, like Twinnings and St. Dalfour, they are a blend of different tea leaves from all over the place. I thought it wouldnt be a good thing, not as fresh or something, but what's so fresh about dried leaves anyway? Soon I may be tempted to try different brands, but of course, Earl Grey and English Breakfast :D. Now I just can't seem to drink regular tea.

So I take my tea and snack everyday. Today I had brownies. I bought four boxes of those brownies last week because they are that good. They are just supermarket stuff, which makes it even more surprising. I have been hunting down the manufacturer since I stumbled upon it at the recent Gerak Usahawan event at PWTC. I found out that they do not sell under their own label. They manufactured it for supermarket brands. That's right, this heavenly brownie was a Jusco Selection.

So. Anyone for tea? :D
