Quarter Life Birthday 22/4/2012

It's been a while since I made any birthday posts. And it has also been a few years since I celebrated my birthday in Kuching. My youngest sister's birthday also falls on the same date so this is our first birthday together since a long time. This also happens to be Sarah's first birthday party, so she was really looking forward to her presents. Ahh, the good old days.

Anyway, she celebrated her party at McDonald's with the them of Spongebob, so all her friends are supposed to wear yellow. Of course, not everyone had yellow things to wear, but it was still amusing to see them putting so much effort to follow the dress code. Let's move on to the birthday girls shall we?

Me and my awesome party hat
Sarah and her friends. It's good to be young and excitable. sighs.

And the food, of course. Each bag contains a piece of chicken. There are fries and nuggets as well. Suits picky eaters like me best since I always have my burgers plain xD.
And you can't have a birthday party at this age without games. My dad took the games maybe a little too seriously...

Now presenting our birthday cake! It was a surprise, apparently, because I came home for my birthday on the last minute hahahaha. You might remember this picture from this post. It is the exact same picture used. My elder sis had a copy and it was one of those rare pics of Sarah and I together.

Although I didn't get to eat my own head.
After the party, we all went home and Sarah went to excitedly unwrapping all her presents with the (probably unwelcomed) help of some of her friends. Later that night we went out for seafood because that's all I wanted to have for my birthday. Presenting the oyster pancake!
Can't believe I've seen this anywhere else in the world but here.

After dinner I met up with Totchi at The Atelier, this bar restaurant that was set in a renovated colonial home. I played pool for the first time since I was maybe ten or twelve waaaay back at the Kiddies Club at Damai Beach. I sucked at it, but it was still fun. It was funny how everyone there had a drink, a bottle or just a glass in front of them while I had a complete tea service before me! Isn't it obvious that I don't belong in such places? I met some interesting people. Bar flies are often nice people, I was told. I just didn't dare to take pictures of myself there because I'm afraid that people will take it out of context. :P Either way, my clothes smelled of smoke when I finally went home and had a feverish, cigarette-smelling dream that night because turned out I was on the verge of a fever that became full on the next day.

Overall, what an interesting birthday! Ta'ra!

My Dusty Uniform

I've been under quarantine for a week now and seriously I'm getting bored of it. I finally got a draft for my ISP2 paper, so it's not all a waste of time trying to get over my itchy back, which, by the way, is no longer itching. In fact, I have started scabbing. Just not on my hands. Hrmmm. And I'm still contagious.

Anyway, I think I ate something bad last night which had caused me poop three times today. For the moment no more mamak food. I called up my own original mamak and asked her the recipe for this white mushroom gravy we always eat with meatloaf and potato pie. Then I went out and bought the ingredients. I came back, prepared the ingredients, and was planning to cook after maghrib, but I ended up cooking it anyway. It was finished before maghrib! Now I'm just waiting for the potato to boil hehehehe.

I'll take pictures later heheheh.

Oooh the potato is done!

Ta'ra!

Hungry Day

Have you ever had a hungry day before?

I did. I barely ate anything 'edible' today before my afternoon class. So you can imagine how hungry I was by the time class finishes.

Never mind I'll tell you. I was so hungry I could just gobble up rice for no reason.

And somehow the above sentence doesn't make much sense to me now.

I had to wait for daddyo to pick me up after class. I was already planning on taking him to IOI mall across the road to eat. The image of Thai Express' sliced roast beef was already making me salivate as I wolfed down the sausage bun I bought from the bakery.

Why didn't I just go ahead and wait for daddyo at Thai Express you ask? Well, lazyness.

During this waiting I met an African student named Abdul. I think we've been introduced before though. It's funny. Anyway, he was a nice person. Very polite. Most of the Africans in my college are quite polite. Except Nigerians.

Anyway, while in class I was thinking about baby kailans and how soft and salty it would taste like XD~.

And my dream came true.

I actually ate 90% of those kailans.

But unfortunately...THEY DID NOT HAVE ROAST BEEF!!

I was devastated...T_T

But I was too hungry to complain so I ordered something else. Also, their strawberry lime cooler is H E A V E N. It has pickled strawberry bits inside.

I ate as if there was no tomorrow, gobbling down sinful amounts of white rice. It was only until we went back into the car that I remembered that we were supposed to be meeting my uncle for dinner at my cousin's place.

But for now, daddyo is itching to try out his new golf set, so to the driving range we went.

He didn't stay too long. He tried a few of his new clubs, a set of G10 I heard and happily went away.

But me...I had to say goodbye to my wallet chain there T_T. It got stuck in the chair. I tugged and pulled but it won't release, so I had no choice.

I need to get a new chain :/. I still had to go to my cousin's stall tonight remember? I ate his pan-friend potatoes and was so full after that I could barely think. It was as if I was back to the state I was when I was hungry.

So much for a hungry day.

Ta'ra.
